Year 1, Room 1.

It is nearly the end of Year 1.  I like learning in Room 1 and I have made some new friends.  We make cool stuff in Room 1. I especially like my Christmas tree made with ice block sticks, and tinsel, and cardboard, and pom poms.

Writing About Me.

I was learning to talk about myself.  I had to think up 3 sentences and then write them in my book.  When I did fabulous work, Mrs Kerr published it.  We made a Who Am I? book with all the children in Room 1.

Mathletics at School.

I like Mathletics because I can listen to the speaker and I put the right number or the right word in.  Sometimes it is tricky!!  I feel good when I see the ticks because that means - well done!!

I am lerning my tens and ones. I was able to work out hrd qestens. I found this easy because the cercils helped me. My next step is to try to get all of them write.

My Awesome Reading.

When I started school this year, I could read the book, Me.  It had one line to read on one page.  NOW, I can read books like, Frogs in the Pool.  I still need help with some words on the page. I can read some words that I know at home too.  I am a happy reader!

Whole Class Reflection – Art

Learning: “I learnt how to draw patterns.”   “I learnt to not put too much dye on the cotton bud.”.  “I learnt about tapa from Samoa, Tonga and the Cook Islands.”

Tricky: “Drawing some patterns was tricky.”  “The dying – had to be very careful.” “Keeping the vivid on the pencil lines.”

Proud: “The dye looked beautiful and I was proud of that.”   “I was proud of my patterns.”

Help: “I needed help to dye some parts of the panels, drawing over the pencil lines with vivid, putting the right cotton bud in the right container, knowing about different patterns.”

Next: “I want to learn more patterns.”   “I want to know more about the Cook Islands, Tonga and tapa.”  “I want to use vivids more in the classroom.”  “I want to learn more about drawing.”

I am learning to read back my writing.

"Sometimes I find it hard to spell words.  I like drawing and writing things about my mum.  Sometimes Mrs Wyatt helps me with my writing."

My Reftion

I am learning to write about the school. I was able to draw pitchers. I found this triky because I could't spell some words. My next step is to write about my class room.

I am learning to identify a sentence, for eg, the beginning with a capital letter and the end with a full stop.

"I am finding the letters.  I can make the sounds of the letters. I did it all by myself.  I felt happy when I was finished."

"I love this photo, it is so cute.  I made a truck, and I glued it, and painted it.  I took it home and my mum said "WOW, it is so amazing and beautiful".
